Wastewater Simulation

This course is full and no longer accepting applicants

Wastewater simulation training sessions will be held on July 17th and 18th from 8:30 - 4:00PM, in the Innovation room of the Research Park.

Course Outline

Using a simulator, participants will be able to simulate the impact of treatment process when process equipment is taken out of service.  Participants will be able to practice troubleshooting techniques and discuss the steps to take when reporting out of compliance issues to the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC).

This simulation based software has been designed to train, enhance and enrich Wastewater Operators through the use of dynamic and adaptable treatment plant simulations.  This software has been designed to train and educate new or veteran operators in the field of wastewater treatment.  Through the use of this software, wastewater operators can develop and optimize advanced control schemes, predict effluent quality under varying conditions, conduct planning and capacity analysis or offer sophisticated training and development programs with a dynamic model of an actual 'real-world' or simulated treatment plant.  This software has a history of proving to be an invaluable training tool to Operators, while allowing them to better understand wastewater dynamics and how to respond to process upsets in a simulated environment, thus training operators to be better prepared and educated for real-world process adjustments and process upsets.  Thus, operators can be trained and prepared to better protect our environment.

The Wastewater Simulation course has been developed and will be taught by training specialists from the Ontario Clean Water Agency.
